As we continue our effort in showcasing our showroom partners, we are so happy to share a bit about the incredible folks at Tapis Decor in Minneapolis. We had to pleasure of interviewing Jackie Cox to learn more about the showroom. The Tapis showroom began as a rug and flooring showroom in 2008. Since 2012, it has flourished into a beautiful and eclectic showroom space for their clients to shop. We love being featured in their showroom as Jackie and her team have continued to provide exceptional design to their community throughout the years.
How did you decide on a name for your showroom?
We originally began as a hand made area rug and flooring showroom, hence the name Tapis. I always new I wanted to expand in to furnishings which led to the addition of & Décor. We expanded in to furniture division in 2012.

The relationships with our clients is the most rewarding part of what we do. The most challenging… the ups and downs of business and the economy.
How do you best support your customers in the buying process?
We listen. We listen to their needs, we pay attention to their reactions, and we give ideas.
What do you love most about your city and the community you do business with?

We’ve spent the past few months expanding our line of furniture and we’re very excited to introduce our newest pieces. The Strap Dining Table with Cast Glass, the Geo Collection, and the new Strap Desi Coffee Table are just a few of the new pieces that have recently been added to our collection.
Our favorite classic, the Strap Dining Table, is now offered in the iconic Cast Glass. Where do we even begin? This 2 inch thick material is hand poured by a local craftsman whose incredible process guarantees each piece is unique in texture and appearance. With new structural additions, the Strap Dining Table is now capable of featuring this unbelievable material for small to large projects.
Inspired by natural elements and modern lines, The Geo Dining Table, Coffee Table and Occasional Table offer sculptural and geometric forms to transform spaces. This collection’s unique shape and contemporary angles gracefully elevates modern interiors unlike any other. Like the rest of LUMA Design Workshop’s table offerings, the Geo Collection is available in custom sizing, materials and finishes to empower one-of-a-kind designs.
Building on the legacy of the original Strap Desi, the new Strap Desi integrates more of our foundational metal material while maintaining the trio of material options. The option of choosing three materials allows for you to create a completely unique piece for your next project.
The furniture design process is one of the most challenging and exciting jobs that we do at LUMA Design Workshop. Aside from our love for furniture design, we are passionate about the craftsmanship that goes into every piece we create. Our goal to design and build unique, timeless pieces incorporates traditional craftsmanship and locally sourced materials. We are very excited to begin sharing more of our new pieces as well as bits about our process, things that inspire us, and more!
