As we continue our effort in showcasing our showroom partners, we are so happy to share a bit about the incredible folks at Tapis Decor in Minneapolis. We had to pleasure of interviewing Jackie Cox to learn more about the showroom. The Tapis showroom began as a rug and flooring showroom in 2008. Since 2012, it has flourished into a beautiful and eclectic showroom space for their clients to shop. We love being featured in their showroom as Jackie and her team have continued to provide exceptional design to their community throughout the years.
How did you decide on a name for your showroom?
We originally began as a hand made area rug and flooring showroom, hence the name Tapis. I always new I wanted to expand in to furnishings which led to the addition of & Décor. We expanded in to furniture division in 2012.
What are the most rewarding parts of your business and what are the challenges?
The relationships with our clients is the most rewarding part of what we do. The most challenging… the ups and downs of business and the economy.
How do you best support your customers in the buying process?
We listen. We listen to their needs, we pay attention to their reactions, and we give ideas.
What do you love most about your city and the community you do business with?
We have an awesome design community [in Minneapolis]. It’s strong and we support each other.
We’re often described as ‘fresh’ and hear “you guys are so welcoming”. That’s the vibe of our showroom. Fresh, airy, transitional with an edge.
What are you looking for when you add a new line/artisan to your showroom?
A special product with a unique aesthetic. Someone who appreciates their craft and does it well.
What is popular right now? What type of pieces, finishes, and/or materials are customers most drawn to?
Mixed material, texture, color
What does a day off look like for you and/or your employees?
Relaxation, family, and laughs.
Since 2014, our team at LUMA Design Workshop has worked towards making the most refined and highest quality customizable furniture line. With years of experience building custom metal projects and the expansion of our existing furniture line under our belt, it was time to try something new. Our team is thrilled by every aspect of the design and build process and we were looking forward to put that energy towards an entirely new line of products.
Throughout our entire LUMA line you will find inspiration from natural forms and organic textures. Our goal was to carry on this inspiration to whatever new product we came up with. Pulling inspiration from classic LUMA forms and our tried and true materials, the Vessel collection was born.
These elegant home accessories add a unique sculptural statement to their surrounding environment.
At LUMA Design Workshop, we are continuously trying to think outside the box. How can we reimagine this piece of furniture? How can we use our design and build expertise to create something unlike anything we’ve done before? How can we push our boundaries?
With tons more ideas on our minds, we are excited to continue coming out with new products that provide our modern aesthetic and traditional craftsmanship to different areas of people’s lives.
